Revolutionizing the Self-Storage Industry
In 2021, Brett Henry and John Koudsi of Trojan Storage, a large multi-site independent owner/operator, grew frustrated with the state of the self-storage software space.
Private equity and institutional capital had flooded the industry, resulting in significant consolidation of the software companies serving the industry. This consolidation naturally reduced competition, leaving less options for storage owners/operators. Having a much smaller number of vendors available inherently slowed innovation.
With very few viable software options remaining, institutionally owned companies had little motivation to invest in innovation (and a lot of motivation to cut costs and fill the pockets of their investors).
Brett and John concluded that if they wanted software that would help them run their self-storage assets to their highest potential, they needed to build software themselves that is based upon the best practices of industry experts and, more importantly, is dedicated to the industry instead of private equity profits.
After a few weeks of discussing their vision with the ownership of QuikStor, they came to an agreement to purchase a controlling interest in the company to guarantee that their vision would become reality.
They immediately embarked on a multi-million-dollar investment to bring the brightest technology veterans and a consortium of self-storage owners/operators together to define the functionality needed for this new, revolutionary software.
In 2024, after more than three years of software engineering and extensive real-world testing, their vision has come to fruition...
